Thai foot massage anybody?

Picture
Thai foot massage originated approximately 2000 years ago and was originally used within households amongst family members to cure any ailments. It was strongly influenced by the Indian Ayurvedic system of healing as well as having aspects of traditional Chinese medicine and elements of shiatsu, reflexology, Chinese massage and yoga

Thai foot massage is a wonderfully relaxing massage of the feet and lower legs, various points of the feet and legs are kneaded, stretched, massaged and pressed, with particular pressure from the thumbs and knuckles as well as using a traditional foot massage stick to stimulate reflex points. Thai foot massage treats the body as a whole as it incorporates elements of reflexology (certain points on the foot correspond to other areas of the body) therefore all the major body parts and internal organs are stimulated.  Thai massage is also known for its work on energy lines also called “Sen Lines” in Thailand. Many Asian body massages and holistic therapies are based on energy lines or sen lines on the body. If the energy lines or sen lines are blocked, illness can develop. In Thailand it is called “Sen”, in China it is called “Chi”, in Japan “Ki”, and in India it is called “Prana” As the reflex points on the feet are stimulated any blockages or 'stuck' energy is released allowing a better flow of energy around the body, promoting healing.

Thai foot massage can be effective in healing many ailments as well as being a wonderful treatment for promoting overall heath and providing a sense of well being.

The benefits of Thai foot massage are

  • Boosts the immune systems
  • Stimulates lymphatic drainage
  • Improves circulation of the legs and feet
  • Improves concentration
  • Increases the flow of oxygen to the internal organs
  • Reduces stress
  • Aids relaxation
  • Aids insomnia
  • Clears and calms the mind
  • Increases muscle flexibility and mobility
  • Dissolves energy blockages
Thai foot massage can help the overall healing process but it is not a substitution for medical treatment. It can have incredible benefits both for people in good health and those who are suffering from varying types of ailments. We spend a lot of time on our feet so this is a great treatment to revitalise those feet and legs and leave you feeling relaxed as well as revitalised!
